In 2007 Dr Jan was at the World Health Congress in Sydney where Helen O’Connell (Australian Urologist) talked about her discovery in 1998 that the female clitoris is not just a ‘button’. In fact, it is a very large organ, shaped like a ‘wishbone’. 

It really is amazing!

What you see with the eye is only the central and external glans (what we know as the clitoral ‘button’) but internally it has long legs either side. Attached to the legs are spongy bulbs.

One explanation advanced for the vaginal orgasm during intercourse is that it results from stimulation of the internal parts of the clitoris during vaginal penetration.

But sadly, surveys consistently find that only 25% of women can have those orgasms.

In fact, Dr Jan has had a survey on her www.sex-therapy website for over 15 years and analysis of the data consistently results in only 25% of women reporting orgasm with intercourse.

But Jan has learned that this information is only the head stuff!
